If you are teaching your pupils about Roman Britain, why not think about introducing a little bit of Latin?
Minimus: Starting out in Latin introduces pupils to stories about a real family from the Roman fort of Vindolanda near Hadrian's wall. Flavius was the fort commander in 100 CE, and he and his wife Lepidina feature in the Vindolanda tablets, where we read about their three children. Archaeological excavations have revealed the presence of cats and mice on the site! The books feature many artifacts from Vindolanda, integrating real objects into fictional plot lines.
You can discover a huge range of resources on the Minimus website.
Supplementary material can be found on the Classics for All Resources Hub.
Classics for All also provides free training to help give you the confidence to incorporate some Latin into your classroom. If you are interested, or would like to learn more, please get in touch!
